Ventrilo or "Vent" is what we use the majority of the time to talk in (and out) of games. It is essential a VOIP service but does not have a phone number, instead it uses a chat room (or rooms) to talk to people.

-First you must download Vent: www.ventrilo.com/download.php
Download the correct client for your computer (I hope nobody has to use the windows 9x client )

-Click the button that says "I agree" and save the file

-Run the file after the download has been complete

-Click Next through the install.

-Run Ventrilo ***If you are using Windows 7 or Vista and having problems try to run the program as an administrator, do this by right clicking and selecting "run as administrator", or you can set it to always run as administrator by right-clicking and going to properties and clicking advanced or in the compatibility tab.***

-Click the arrow to the right of user name, click new, and make yourself a username. Then Click Ok.

-Next click the arrow to the right of server, click new and name it YouJustLost.

-Now fill in the hostname and port number with the information at the top of this article (there is no password) and then click ok.

-Now the setup is all done just click connect and enjoy! (Also see the note below)

I would recommend you click setup, and about half way down the left side change that hotkey to something that won't get annoying to hit mid-game! Which means pretty much any key on the left side of the keyboard is a no go. I use the 3rd mouse button, or the wheel click.
